Sedgley Springfield 30-06
Description: Early Springfield 30-06 by R.F. Sedgley Inc. Philadelphia. Built on an early Springfield Armory 1903 action, serial number 257, XXX with a 23 1/2" barrel with an excellent bore. Typical Sedgley accoutraments with a matted banded ramp front sight with brass bead and banded sling stud. Receiver equipped with a Lyman 48S peep sight with a 125' slide. Nicely stocked in Sedgley style with a checkered steel buttplate and schnable forend tip. The stock is solid without cracks oe reopairs. Just a nice unaltered Sedgley. Reginald F. Sedgley entered the gun business in 1897 as manager for the Henry Kolb gunmaking firm. He bought the company in 1916 and gave it his name. He built a variety of firearms but is best known for utilizing early Springfield 1903 actions which he annealed and re-heat treated. They were then proof tested to 80,000 psi.
