SOLD AWAITING PAYMENT Putting up for sale a old Whitney Rifle, 24" round barrel , 38 Caliber ( 38/40 ) Rocky Mountain blade front sight , open rear. sn. S-140 Mfg'd in 1885, just as pictures show, stock up close looks to be whittled with a knife , never was sanded smooth, I bought this about five years ago from a fella that tore down a old house and it was in the walls. I cleaned it up and have shot it. Bore is surprisingly pretty fair. This one does not have the Kennedy name on it. And is the loop lever. Serial numbers are stamped on different parts and they all match. Not overly priced as you seldom find them anymore. They were numerous up here in northern Wisconsin according to the now deceased Dale Olson who was the go to guy on these grand old rifles. Quite a fella Dale was. These I guess were made 1880-1886 then the big guy on the block bought them out and closed the doors. I believe 23 k were made in different calibers and variations. I've owned a few, unique rifle , action must be open like a Colt in order to load magazine. Well I ship through USPS , priority insured with tracking number.
