This is an heirloom quality double rifle built by the innovative Texas gunsmith Bailey Bradshaw. It is his "Rising Block" configuration, where instead of the traditional hinge joining of the barrels to the receiver, the barrel set slides in channels machined into the receiver, creating a much stronger lock-up. The underlever raises the barrel set to allow for loading and unloading the rifle.
This rifle was started 10 years ago with the purchase of a $4,000 blank from Luxus walnut. The rifle was built with two sets of barrels, in 500NE and 450-400NE. Deep relief engraving was completed on the receiver and other parts, and guilding accents were added to enhance the design. The barrel sets are both 26" to emulate the older British doubles. LOP is 14 1/4" and 13 1/4" front and back respectively. Both barrels sets were regulated with Hornady ammunition.
This rifle was showcased recently at the Houston Safari Club Show. I have youtube videos from Bailey showing the firing of the rifle, the barrel switching technique, and other features.
