FAUL Belgium .470 NE Double Rifle | JJ Perodeau Regulated | Certified Safari-Ready™
Description: FAUL Belgium .470 NE Double Rifle | JJ Perodeau Regulated | Certified Safari-Ready™ 1956 Liège Double Rifle | Trijicon RMR | Field-Proven Dangerous Game Rifle Offered here is a classic 1956 FAUL-built double rifle from Liège, Belgium chambered in .470 Nitro Express, representing the traditional Belgian approach to building strong, mechanically sound dangerous-game rifles in the classic British safari style. Fabrique d’Armes Unies de Liège (FAUL) was one of the respected makers operating in Belgium’s historic gunmaking center of Liège, producing high-quality sporting arms and double rifles throughout the mid-20th century. Rifles such as this were built as serious hunting tools, combining robust construction with the handling qualities expected of a traditional safari rifle. The rifle is built on a chopper-lump Anson & Deeley boxlock action featuring automatic ejectors and a Purdey-style treble-bite locking system, providing strong and secure lock-up suitable for heavy dangerous-game cartridges such as the .470 Nitro Express. The action body is engraved in traditional English scroll and retains attractive marbled color-case hardening. The rifle carries 26-inch barrels with excellent bores and chambers. It is fitted with a quarter rib with standing express rear sight and brass bead front sight. The rear express sight has been filed slightly lower during prior regulation work to achieve proper point of impact and remains functional and usable. The rifle was professionally serviced and regulated by noted double-rifle specialist JJ Perodeau, who also installed an RMR optic base and an 11-ounce mercury recoil reducer to improve recoil management. The rifle regulates very well with Hornady .470 Nitro Express factory ammunition. For modern dangerous-game hunting, the rifle is fitted with a brand new Trijicon RMR Type 2 adjustable red-dot sight, providing extremely fast target acquisition and excellent visibility in heavy cover while retaining the traditional iron sights as backup. The walnut stock shows attractive figure through the buttstock, with well-executed diamond checkering on both the grip and forearm. The rifle balances well and weighs approximately 10.5 pounds, providing excellent recoil control while maintaining proper handling characteristics for off-hand shooting. This rifle has been successfully used on safari in South Africa, accounting for both Cape buffalo and Livingstone’s eland, demonstrating its reliability and practical field capability. A professionally produced hunting video featuring this rifle in use can be found on YouTube by searching: “Buffalo Hunting at its Best – The Two Pipe Talks Again” “Giant Livingstone’s Eland Hunt – Untamed TV” This is an honest, field-proven dangerous-game double rifle combining classic Belgian craftsmanship with practical modern enhancements for safari hunting. MS&FA Certified Safari-Ready™ This rifle has been evaluated under the Mackey Safari & Fine Arms Certified Safari-Ready™ (CSR™) standard, intended to confirm that the rifle is mechanically sound and suitable for dangerous-game hunting at the time of inspection. For double rifles, the CSR inspection includes evaluation of: • Lock-up and on-face condition • Barrel regulation and point of impact • Extractor/ejector timing and operation • Trigger and safety function • Bore and chamber condition • Rib integrity and sight alignment • General mechanical reliability Where appropriate, rifles may be test-fired to confirm regulation and reliable operation with appropriate factory ammunition. Certification reflects the rifle’s condition at the time of inspection and does not constitute a warranty but provides buyers confidence that the rifle has been evaluated as a functional hunting arm suitable for safari use.
