Custom '98 Mauser rifle                 * Caliber .404 Jeffries                 * Barrel 24 1/2 "                 * S/N 750XX                 * Condition is 99% as refinished.  There is nothing fancy here..this is just a very crisp English box magazine rifle with a proud history.  The gun has been hunted and has had a recent refinish precipitated by an alteration to the original cheek piece.  The comb was a bit high for the owner, so our stock maker altered the comb, recut the checkering, and oil finished the stock.  The gun has taken Cape Buffalo and Kudu in Zimbabwe, and Brown Bear and Moose in Alaska.  It shoots Kynoch real well.  The gun features a smooth two-stage trigger, grip cap trap, hooded front sight and three blade standing 'v' rear.  The length of pull is 15" over a Silvers 'widows peak' butt pad.  The gun is truly beautiful in its simplicity and at the same time stimulating in its performance. There is a set of RCBS reloading dies and some once fired Kynoch and RWS .404 brass.
