Griffin & Howe .375 H&H
Description: This is an extremely collectible Griffin & Howe rifle barell number 20 in .375 H&H magnum. This rifle was built sometime in 1926 on a “single bridge” Mauser receiver bearing serial number 6277. The barell length is 26” and the LOP is 13 5/8”. All the exposed parts, i.e., bolt handle and bolt release lever bear the last two numbers 77. It has a first model Lyman #48 peep sight along with a dual flip up barell rear sight leaves marked 100 and 200. The finish is 98% or better with little to no handling marks on the wood. The factory bluing is strong with very minor wearing at the muzzle. The previous owner has indicated, although not confirmed, John Realmuto of G&H fame had the gun in his private collection for many years. He is believed to have sold it sometime prior to 1984. According to Bob Beach at G&H, serial number 20 appeared in Bill Ward’s bound record book in October of 1987 purchased from a Charles McAlpine of Eagle River, Alaska. In November of that year, it was sent to the New York G&H store. According to the author, Michael Petrov, said prior to his passing that he was familiar with this rifle and that the original owner was from Alaska. Please check my photos carefully and email any questions you may have.
