SOLD - This offering is a Winchester model 70 manufactured in 1954. It is chambered in the timeless and field-proven .375 H&H magnum. Although it is not in original condition, it has several more lifetimes of service left. First, the good, overall, it is good-solid condition. The stock is solid and doesn't have many marks other than on the right side close to the front swivel stud. The checkering is well defined, but the points are flattened. The wood's finish may be original, but can't say for sure. Believe the receiver's finish is original, but not sure about the barrel. The stampings are still deep and well-defined. Now, the not-so-good, the barrel has been shortened to 22" and sights removed. The bore is not dark, but does have either some pitting or stubborn fouling. The receiver has been drilled and tapped for a side mount, possibly for a Griffin & Howe. It currently has a Redfield one-piece base. This gun is not a cream puff, but is priced accordingly. Hey, it's 68 years old and has been hunted with. For a vintage set-up, I can add a Lyman Alaskan scope, with post and crosshair, for $300. It is very nice condition. Or, I have a Leupold Vari-X III 1.5-5x in nice condition for $250. For the vintage look, but at a budget price, I have a steel tube Weaver 1.5-4.5x in fair to good condition for $100.
