RARE E. SCHMIDT & HABERMANN
SUHL MAUSER - 9.3 x 63 - EARLY 1900'S GERMAN SPORTING RIFLE
Description: Rare E. Schmidt & Habermann Suhl Mauser – 9.3×63 – Early 1900’s German Sporting Rifle Offered for sale is a scarce and highly desirable German sporting rifle built by E. Schmidt & Habermann (E.S.&H.), Suhl, Germany, in the early 1900’s. Chambered in the rare 9.3×63, this rifle represents a fascinating period in German cartridge development when makers sought to improve upon the very successful 9.3×62mm by slightly increasing case length and powder capacity. The 9.3×63 was intended as a more powerful medium-bore option for African and colonial hunting but never achieved the commercial success of its 62mm counterpart, making surviving examples uncommon and highly collectible today. Specifications & Features
Condition Mechanically excellent with smooth Mauser function. Bore is excellent and well-preserved. Overall condition reflects a well-cared-for early 20th century German sporting rifle. Historical Significance This rifle comes from the golden era of Suhl gunmaking, when German craftsmen were producing elegant, practical hunting rifles for domestic and export markets. The 9.3×63 is a rare transitional medium-bore cartridge, positioned between the 9.3×62 and later developments such as the 9.3×64mm Brenneke. Examples chambered in 9.3×63 are seldom encountered and are of particular interest to advanced collectors of German sporting arms and Mauser rifles. Additional Information
