Caboth Doumalin .505 Gibbs
Custom .505 Gibbs by Dave Caboth of Alta, Iowa built on a Henri Doumalin Imperial Magnum Double Square Bridge true magnum length barreled action. This is the largest of all the Mauser actions and a full 1/4 inch longer than an Oberndorf Magnum Mauser and has a .750" bolt shaft leaving plenty of meat around the .505 case at the bolt face. This gun with a 24" Doumalin barrel with banded ramp front sight, barrel attached sling eye, and an island rear sight base with one standing leaf. There is a recoil lug on the barrel. The receiver square bridges machined for Alaskan Arms Burgess style lever release rings, the best on the market, holding a Kahles Helia 2.5X scope with four heavy posts and fine crosshairs. There is a 3 position Model 70 type side swing safety. The drop box bottom metal holds 3 down and has a hinged floorplate with a frontal bow release. Stocked in the English style in a very hard, dense, and heavy piece of Turkish Walnut with outstanding color and contrast and perfect grain flow for a big bore. Point pattern 26 LPI checkering that wraps the forend. Double crossbolts. Ebony forend tip. Pancake shadow line cheekpiece. Inletted two screw rear swivel stud. 14" LOP to a Silvers type pad. Floorplate, trap grip cap, action screws, and crossbolts engraved by Leland Davis of Wells, KS. who also did the satin rust blue. Weighs 11lb 1oz without scope and rings and 12lb 2oz with.
This is an extremely well done piece by talented craftsmen. It is new from the makers. Test fired only. Included is a synthetic stock for hunting use if desired. It is built the way a safari rifle should be with proper weight for the .505 and will go the distance on the largest of Magnum Mauser actions.
