You are looking at a high condition custom rifle built by R.F. Sedgley Philadelphia, PA. Before and after WWII, Sedgley built gorgeous custom sporting rifles based on 1903 Springfield actions. They thought they discovered there was a market for customers who wanted a fine custom rifle but were on a limited budget. They thought a rebarreled 1903 Springfield in a modified military stock at a significantly lower price might be a good seller. I’m thinking it wasn’t successful, because, in all the years I was collecting custom sporting rifles, this is the only one of these I have ever seen! The barrel is marked R.F. SEDGELY INC. PHILAPA U.S.A. and the front receiver bridge is marked U.S. SPRINGFIELD NODEL 1903 732477. The barrel meaasures 22 inches, and the length of pull is 13 inches.
