Remington Model 700 CDL .30-06 Springfield Matte Blue 24” New in Box
Description: The Remington Model 700 is one of the most famous, and most popular bolt action rifles ever made, so much so that it is still in production 60 years after its introduction! The Model 700 rifle has been used all over the world by hunters, military snipers, police, and match target shooters. Present company is the 700 CDL. The stock is a sleek, satin-finished walnut with a black fore-end cap. It is fitted with a solid rubber butt pad. The 26” barrel uses ultra-precise 5R rifling to provide perfect shot placement on the target. This 700 CDL uses the Timney Impact 700 trigger, which is factory set between 3 and 4 lbs. in pull weight. It is not adjustable. Magazine capacity is 4 rounds plus one in the chamber. The floor plate is hinged so that, if necessary, the cartridges can be dumped all at once rather than having to be cycled through the action one at a time. Combined with the classic .30-06, the BDL would make an excellent long-range hunting rifle. The .30-06 was originally introduced in 1906 as an upgrade from the .30-03. It featured a slightly shorter case (63 mm vs the original 64.5 mm) and a modern Spitzer bullet instead of the older, heavier round nose bullet. The .30-06 valiantly served the United States Armed Forces through two World Wars, the Korean War, and dozens of small military actions before being replaced as the primary U.S. issue rifle cartridge by the 7.62x51mm NATO cartridge in the late 50s. This did not affect U.S. snipers who continued to rely on the .30-06 into the Vietnam era. The .30-06 has been chambered in some of the world’s most famous military rifles and machineguns, such as the Model 1903 Springfield (with the ‘03A3 version being built by Remington), the Winchester Model 70 (custom sniper versions being used by USMC snipers in the Pacific in World War 2), the M1 Garand, the Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR), the Browning Models 1917 and 1919 machineguns, the Lewis gun, and the Enfield Model 1917 rifle (used by the Sirius Dog Patrol in the arctic circle until just recently, the rifles being over 100 years old upon retirement). Lesser-known military arms chambered in the .30-06 include the Brazilian Mauser Model 1908/34 and M1954 short rifles, the FN Model 1949 semi-auto rifle, and the Madsen Model 47. On the civilian side of things, almost every well-known firearms manufacturer has chambered the .30-06 over the years with almost every one of them today producing several models in the caliber. Over the years, .30-06 has proved itself worldwide as a reliable multi-use cartridge and has seen much use in hunting and several types of shooting competition.
