Springfield 1903 .30-06 Sporter - excellent -
Description: An excellent condition Sporting Rifle made from a high number Springfield 1903 barreled action by someone who know what he was doing. I would say from the late 1940's when folks were scrambling for hunting rifles (which were non existent at the time) and so instead purchased converted military rifles. Some even converted their own. This is the time of the Springfield Sporter, The Griffin & Howe, Sedgley, etc. Even Springfield Armory built a special sporterized 1903 miliatary rifle for President Teddy Roosevelt. These have become iconic sporting rifles whose design basically defined the American Sporting Rifle for years to come. This particular specimen has all the atributes of the aforementioned but without the steep price tags. And the bore and chamber are mint. Receiver has not been drilled for scope mounts. While we know nothing of the maker we know he was from the New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey area - and he was a very skilled craftsman. Price: $995.00 Curio/Relic: Yes Rifle Caliber: .30-06 Springfield Contact Seller |
