Winchester Model 70 Featherweight pre-64 in .270 Winchester
Description:
This is a true American classic, a 1955 production Winchester Model 70 Featherweight rifle chambered in .270 Winchester caliber. This Pre-64 Model 70 Featherweight features a straight comb checkered walnut stock. The original blue factory finishes on this rifle show some various wear and tear, but it is in excellent field condition. The bore in this Winchester is mirror-bright and in excellent condition. The rifling still shows sharp lands and grooves throughout the barrel, and there is no visible pitting, erosion, or imperfections. The internals of this rifle are just as clean and nice as the exterior. The raceways in the receiver show only a touch of finish wear, a great indicator of how much the action was worked over the years (and fired). The original stock on this Winchester is very handsome and in excellent condition overall. The checkered panels on the wrist and forearm are still clean, sharp, and well-defined, and the stock is completely free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/damage. All of the original stock hardware is intact and in very good condition, including the factory sling swivels. The controls on this Model 70 are all in perfect working order, and the bolt action has to be felt to truly be appreciated. These actions were hand-fit and tuned, and the result is a super-slick action that is smooth and precise. When you turn that bolt handle down it locks into battery with perfection on this rifle. This Model 70 should be just as reliable and accurate today as the day it left the factory 65 years ago. This is truly one of the best rifles ever manufactured in the United States of all-time. All in all, this classic 1955 Winchester Model 70 Featherweight would be a superb addition to any rifle or gun collection.
