** SOLD** Original Henry 1860 Lever Action in .44 Henry Rimfire Caliber **Outstanding Original Henry**
Description: For consideration is a very nice original Henry 1860 lever action rifle in .44 Henry rimfire caliber. The Henry repeating rifle is a lever-action tubular magazine rifle famed both for its use at the Battle of the Little Bighorn and being the basis for the iconic Winchester rifle of the American Wild West. Designed by Benjamin Tyler Henry in 1860, the original Henry was a sixteen-shot .44 caliber rimfire breech-loading lever-action rifle. It was introduced in the early 1860s and produced through 1866 in the United States by the New Haven Arms Company. The Henry was adopted in small quantities by the Union in the American Civil War, favored for its greater firepower than the standard-issue carbine. Many later found their way West, notably in the hands of a few of the Sioux and Cheyenne in their defeat of George Armstrong Custer's U.S. Cavalry troops in June 1876. This particular example is in very good physical and mechanical condition. The 24" barrel has some frosting but is definately shootable. The brass has aged to a very handsome patina. This Original Henry is a piece of American history. PRICE: $15,995.00 Plus Shipping We are Antique & Modern Firearms in Lexington, KY, a dealer of fine firearms since 1974.
