2002 Vintage Stainless Marlin Model 1895GS Guide Gun in .45-70 Caliber
** Neat JM-Marked Brush Buster ** SOLD
Description: The Marlin Model 1895GS (Guide Gun Stainless) was first introduced in 2001 as the stainless steel version of the firm's popular Guide Gun. This model features stainless steel construction, a 18.5" inch barrel with Ballard rifling, a folding rear buckhorn sight with a ramped brass bead front sight, a hammer block safety, a 4-shot 3/4 length magazine tube, and a cut-checkered American Black Walnut stock set with a factory installed recoil pad and sling swivel studs. Barrel porting was standard until 2002, at which point it was discontinued. These Marlins quickly earned a reputation for being very well made, reliable, and powerful, an ideal gun to carry in brushy hunting areas or where bears may be encountered. The stainless steel construction of the 1895GS made it even better for those who lived in areas with extreme climates. This particular example was made in the second year of production for this model 2002, and does not have barrel porting. It is used but in good overall condition with excellent mechanics. The stainless steel shows some minor handling marks and some very light scratches but nothing that stands out as an eyesore. The bore is mirror-bright and shows sharp lands and grooves in the Ballard rifling throughout the barrel. There are no visible imperfections in the bore whatsoever. The original stock set is in good condition overall and free from any cracks, chips, or repairs. Both the forearm and buttstock show minor handling marks consistent with the rest of the gun, and the checkered panels on the wrist and forearm are still clean and crisp. All of the stock hardware is in great shape and intact, including the factory-installed Marlin-branded recoil pad that makes the length of pull 13.5" inches. The action on this Marlin is excellent, it's slick, precise, and locks up perfectly into battery. All of the controls on this carbine are in perfect working order. We have no doubt that this Marlin will shoot just as reliably and accurately as the day it left the factory 17 years ago. If you have been looking for one of these for your collection, here is your chance to get a nice pre-Remington Model 1895GS that you can take afield without feeling guilty.
