Description: Marlin Model 1897, manufactured in 1903. Take-down, lever action. Metal has uneven patina with many scratches and some light pitting near muzzle. Bore is shiny but dark with some pitting and scratches. Hammer has small notch filed below striking surface. Round top receiver, marked "MARLIN SAFETY", shows trace of case hardening color. Wood is Antique Good with scratches and dents expcect of a rifle this old, factory butt plate is slightly oversize indicating some sanding/refinishing. Plastic butt plate with Marlin logo. Rear sight is semi-buckhorn (missing stepped elevator); tang is drilled and tapped for tang sight. Front sight is 1/16" blade with inset ivory , drift adjustable for windage. Magazine tube has evidence of repaired damage (see photos) and is stiff to open but fully functional. 3% lost cash discount fee for credit card purchases. $50 for our standard shipping, add $20 for shipment in plastic gun case (used), add $20 for insurance.
