Description:
CLASSIC PRE-WAR MODEL 14 SLIDE ACTION RIFLE IN DESIRABLE .35 REMINGTON CALIBER, #124XXX, MADE 1913-1934. Typical robust blued steel and walnut of the pre-Great Depression era of the last century, the slide action Model 14 was a popular alternative to the popular lever action rifle s and was considered faster to operate for follow up shots. This example shows fine deep blue on the receiver with nearly full coverage blue on the barrel that shows some dulling from age. Generally excellent, solid stock and forend/pump with the finish on the butt stock looking a bit dry with minor raised flaking. Has a marbles buckhorn rear sight paired with a Marbles No. 2 blade/bead front sight. Also fitted with a correct tang sight. Tight action and exc. mechanically. Bright, excellent bore with one very shallow spot or "ring" about midway down the bore that is minor and not visible on the outside of the barrel. Correct steel curved butt plate with toe extension- unique to some of the early Remington repeaters. Has a "hook eye" swivel in the butt stock and a matching non-factory one brazed to the magazine retaining band. Lots of life left in this probably 100 year old shooter!
