1970's Vintage Volunteer Enterprises Commando Mark III .45 ACP Carbine ** Fun Range/Farm Gun ** SOLD

Description:
This is a neat vintage "Tommy Gun" clone made by Volunteer Enterprises in the 1970's and 1980's.  This blow-back operated semi-auto carbine features a 16.5" inch barrel, a Walnut finger-groove foregrip like the original Thompson SMG, and an actual U.S.G.I. Thompson buttstock.  They were made to be relatively inexpensive with a stamped sheet steel receiver and a cast trigger housing/magazine well.  The Commando Mark III uses U.S. M3 "Grease Gun" magazines, typically with a 30-round capacity.  In order to more closely resemble the Thompson the Commando was fitted with a false compensator, a ribbed barrel sleeve, and iron sights that are similar in shape to the Thompson SMG.  All of the metal parts were either blued or painted/anodized to black.  As you can see from the pictures, this particular example is used but still has a good overall look to it.  The various finishes show some handling marks and evidence of prior surface rust but no major damage or eyesores.  The bore in the 16.5" inch barrel is excellent, free from any pitting, erosion, or imperfections with nice sharp rifling still visible throughout the barrel.  The original American Walnut stock set is in excellent condition, free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/damage.  Both the buttstock and foregrip are nice and tight to the gun, and both pieces match each other perfectly.  All of the controls on this Commando Mark III are in perfect working order, and the action is smooth when worked by hand.  The bolt still slams home into battery and picks up dummy rounds perfectly from the U.S.G.I. M3 magazine.  We have no doubt that this .45 ACP carbine will function just as well today as the day it left the factory.  If you have been looking for something new and fun to take to the range or plink with on the farm this Volunteer Enterprises Commando Mark III would be a great choice.  These are getting harder and harder to find in functioning and presentable condition, and are proving to be good long-term investments.
