Description:
Elegant, vintage British bolt action sporter, in a great caliber. Churchill(Gunmakers) LTD, 7 Bury Street, London SW1 England, British proofed ahead of receiver ring. LH barrel shank has serial # and MADE IN ENGLAND. 22" barrel has excellent bore and rifling. One standing, two folding express sight. Receiver is unmarked except for proof mark RH side of front ring, serial number (barrel matching#) in the rear tang slot. Action is probably a Military 98 re-work, retains the military style 2-stage trigger. Steel bottom metal with fire blue capture screws and lever release floorplate. Low scope safety functions properly, and receiver is drilled/tapped for scope bases. Stock has beautiful finish, crisp checkering, 14-5/8" pull over a nice, soft Pachmayr pad. There is evidence of a small crack repair behind the tang heading diagonally toward the chekering (see last pic) We removed the stock, and see it has been nicely pinned/doweled from the inside, so should not be an issue. Ser#766xx, probably made late 60's to early 70's. 30-06 Caliber.
CA sales welcome.
