Pre-WWII Great Rifle to Hunt Deer-Sized Game!
Here we present a German Single Shot 8mm Rifle, made circa the early-1900s in Germany. Many hunters in Germany at this time utilized the drilling, and many were adopting the latest bolt action rifles of Mauser design, but still others were using these light, slender, and svelte single-shot rifles. When one shot is all you get, you make the best of it.
This one has a cocking indicator at the rear of the fame, double set triggers, and a sliding safety on the tang.
“D.R.G.M/28196” is marked on the left side of the frame, which is essentially a patent type of marking. It also features light floral style engravings on both sides of the frame. BUG proof marks. The bottom of the barrel is marked “172,28” for 7.62mm or .30 caliber, “12.07” and “544”. BUG proof marks here too.
The overall condition is fine. Nice blue finish. Numbers match. The action is strong and tight all around. The bore is extremely bright in fine shape. All marks are clear and legible. The checkering is sharp. This is example is solid at the hinge! Here is a truly fine piece to collect and display!
