The Sharps 1874 Old West Walnut model is inspired by a specimen set up by Henry Slotterbeck, a Wrttemberg-based weaponry maker who emigrated to the USA in the 1850s who, after working for several years at Henry Deringer in Philadelphia, founded Slotter & Co. The stock has brass details: on the right side of the blade a plate to be customized with some inscriptions, and on the rod the plates to protect the buttonhole that houses the transverse key for fixing to the barrel. The pistol grip is completed by a steel bowl with a turtle-colored finish.
