fancy Deluxe Engraved Single Shot German Schutzen Rifle, NVSN, .30 cal., 31.5" fluted octagon barrel, blued finish to barrel assembly, adjustable double set trigger, adjustable target peep rear tang sight and adjustable front sight with numerous securing screws for large and small misc. parts. Case hardened receiver, breechblock lever and possibly the triggers. The finely grained and checkered wood stocks display an old varnished finish with the classic high-rise cheek rest on the left side of the buttstock, along with an integral thumb rest to the right-side wrist of the buttstock. There is a deteriorated rubber butt pad and spacers attached to the rear of the buttstock. Markings include a "(crown)/B" and "(crown)U" stamped on the right top side of the receiver at the breech. Both sides of the receiver display tasteful engraving as does the bottom of the receiver and all four corner edges. These types of Schutzen target rifles were very typical of early 20th Century German production. The overall condition of this Schutzen is very good with approx. 80%-85% muted blued finish to the barrel and approx. the same percentage vivid colors to the case hardened parts. Stock is in overall very good to fine condition. Action operates smoothly; bore has darkening in the grooves, otherwise very good with very good rifling. A nice example of the classic Schutzen target rifle, suitable for any private or public collection.
