This is a beautiful custom sporting rifle built from a Model 71 military rifle. At its heart is an all matching 1875 dated Steyr receiver, barrel and stock. A talented gunsmith transformed it into an elegant sporting rifle in the "Vogelbuchse" style. The shortened barrel (26 5/8") and receiver retain over 95% original finish. Bore is excellent! It has a turned down butterknife bolt handle. Barrel,receiver and stock retain crisp acceptance and inspection stamps. The triggerguard has had a fancy horn finger rest added. Military trigger has been replaced with fine double set triggers. The stock has been checkered at the wrist and has a schnable tip. The old varnisn is bubbling along lower edge of buttstock. Two leaf sporting rear sight and silver bead front sight. Original brass muzzle cover present. Buttplate stamped "10.H.33," likely indicating 10th Hussars.
