RARE MUNICH Antique GREIS Percussion 4mm ZIMMERSTUTZEN Rifle Engraved Gallery/Parlor Rifle of a GERMAN PRINCE
Description: RARE MUNICH Antique GREIS Percussion 4mm ZIMMERSTUTZEN Rifle Engraved Gallery/Parlor Rifle of a GERMAN PRINCE Here we present an antique Percussion Zimmerstutzen Rifle by Greis of Munich, Germany, made circa 1875. Possibly Valentin Greiss (April 24, 1835-December 12, 1890) was a gunmaker in Munich, Germany beginning in the early 1870s. He specialized in artistic, high end, and high-quality firearms. The Zimmerstutzen was developed as a companion to the larger Schutzen target rifle. This interesting and unique gun has a 19-1/4 inch octagon barrel with a 5-3/4 inch rifled insert at the muzzle and an aperture cut in the underside to allow access to the percussion nipple for priming—the tiny projectile out of the short barrel needed only the percussion cap to propel it at short range. The remainder of the barrel contains the striker which is linked to the hammer. It has a drift adjustable blade front sight, and a standing blued rear sight engraved with the monogram "L" and struck with two dots. It has a border and scroll engraved tang and island lock. The lock is signed "GREIS IN MÜNCHEN". It has a walnut half-stock with a raised cheekpiece and checkered panels at the grip and forend. There is a folding aperture sight mounted behind the barrel tang, along with double set triggers and a wooden pistol grip trigger guard. Length of pull is 12 inches and it is a very light, short gun overall: perfect for a youth! The overall condition is very good. Original finish. The action is excellent and, when set, the double trigger has only to be lightly touched to fire. The stock is smooth and solid. The bore is in great shape and nicely rifled. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 19-1/4 inches. Caliber: 4mm Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1995 #217358 SOLD Antique: Yes |
