Rare war-time August Schuler 98 Sporter rifle chambered in the potent 6.5x68mm caliber with a 24” barrel. 14 1/8” length of pull over a black plastic basketweave butt plate.
Three-quarter pistol grip stock with a black plastic grip cap, double set triggers, flag safety, solid rib with island rear sights, one standing and one folding rear blade, ramp front sight, and sling swivels. The commercial Suhl proof marks date the rifle to May 1942. Stamped with war-time Nitro final proof marks on the bolt, receiver and the barrel.
Game scene engraved floor plate with a stag, oak leaves, and acorns in addition oak leaves and acorns on the front ring. Case color hardened receiver, floor plate, and bolt. Blued bolt release. 80 to 90% case colors remain. Well figured walnut stock with some marks and some damage to the checkering. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Excellent bluing on the barrel. Overall, a high condition rifle made by the maker who also designed this particular caliber, 6.5x68mm, in 1939.
