Offered here as a holiday special is this very fine classic Remington Model 6 .22 “boys rifle”.  It is a  single-shot, falling-block rifle chambered in .22 rimfire: It has a 20-inch round barrel and was designed to be small and lightweight — suitable for younger shooters. This is a DESIRABLE takedown configuration and this early rifles has an outstanding case-hardened frame.
The Model 6 was produced from 1901 to 1933.and total production was approximately 498,000 rifles. The serial number 13703A is very low in the ~498,000 production run. And suggests an early production piece (closer to the start of the run). The Model 6 was very much marketed as a “boys’ rifle”, a sturdy, affordable, quality single-shot that a young shooter could handle. The falling-block action is very strong and simple. It’s not a repeater, so it forced a young shooter to make each shot count.
Many of these rifles saw heavy use, and this one is a fine one. There is only a small portion of wear behind the hammer and the barrel has some lightening scattered patina in spots.
