John Rigby, Rook and Rabbit rifle, early center hammer, .380 C.F.
Description: A very unusual, early style, John Rigby, & Co. London and Dublin, Rook and Rabbit rifle in .380 C. F. This rifle has features associated with the transition from percussion to the center hammer, center fire guns. The extractor design incorporating a lifting finger is only seen on a few examples of the period. It also has a wedge retained forend, and flat sided opening lever, where later designs had a 1/2 round crossection. Opening the action requires moving the hammer to the 1/2 cock to allow the extractor to clear the nonretracting firing pin. Condition is blued turning to brown, with tight, strong action. The bore has well defined rifling, with corrosion, but definitely is shootable. Brass may be made by shortening 38 special brass, and using cast heeled bullets from Old West Bullet Molds. Please see the photos to determine condition. Checks or USPS money orders only accepted, Shipping $35.00. Please use email for purchase or contact. Note: Price reduced to $1495.
