Description:
The New Haven Model 204 Carbine is a .22 rimfire rifle with a lever-action mechanism and a shrouded internal hammer design. This little lever-action is capable of firing .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle cartridges, with 20-, 17-, and 15-round capacity in the tubular magazine. Manufactured by Mossberg under the New Haven brand for sale in department stores and catalogs, the rifle appears to have been originally an aluminum pump-action receiver design that Mossberg then altered to accept a lever action. The rifle has a set of open sights comprised of an elevator-adjustable rear sight and fixed front blade sight. The receiver is also grooved to accept scope rings. The trigger has a grooved texture on the face. The hardwood stock has a simple oiled finish and sling swivels on the rear of the stock and on the forward barrel ring. This New Haven 402 Carbine is in overall fair condition. The furniture and finish on the left side are worn and faded, likely from being stored in a case without oil, but everything operates correctly and fitment is good. The barrel's rifling is largely in good condition except for a ring of pitting roughly an inch and half in from the muzzle.
