William Evans Break Action .22 Hornet
Description: Very nice break action, single shot, 'rook rifle' in .22 Hornet. Barrel stamped: "William Evans, 63 Pall Mall, St. James's, London." Metal has light factory engraving on both sides, bottom of receiver, and trigger guard. Even the screws in the receiver are engraved. Stock is a right-handed Monte Carlo style, with after-market engraving on both sides. No significant dings or scratches, only normal wear for a rifle at least 55 years old. It has a Weaver K3 scope on Redfield mounts. I have fired the rifle and it is fully functional, with no known issues. My gunsmith (Bart Miller, Legacy Gunsmithing, Centennial, Colorado) looked it over and found no issues. So there is no confusion, Mr. Miller did not do a detailed inspection, just a cursory check.. I have limited knowledge of the age or history of the rifle, the last owner is deceased. I beleive it was purchesed in Germany during the early 1960's. That is said to be when the stock was carved. There is bluing loss where the original front and mid iron sights were removed (for scope mounting). There is some bluing loss on the barrel, and the scope has edge bluing loss.
