"The Ross Model 1910 straight-pull bolt action sporting rifle in .280 Ross was manufactured from 1910-1915. The sporting rifle is scarce as many more military and target rifles were produced. This rifle has approx. 96% blue with trigger guard, buttplate, and slight muzzle wear. The 26.5"" barrel has an excellent bore with bright, strong rifling. The front sight is a blade and the rear is a single-leaf folding graduated from 0 to 500. The top of the receiver is marked ROSS RIFLE CO. over CANADA over M-1910 over PATENTED. The top of the chamber is stamped .280 ROSS over PROOVED 28 TONS; MADE IN CANADA followed by the serial number below. The crossed pennant Dominion of Canada proof mark is also on top of the chamber. The top of the receiver bridge has a filled dovetail which can be used for a receiver sight. The checkered walnut stock with Schnabel forend tip is fine. It is equipped with sling eyes and a finely checkered butt-plate. The stock finish is smooth and excellent with virtually no wear. The action functions correctly. NOTE: Do not disassemble this rifle unless you are completely familiar with the correct bolt reassembly as it is possible to assemble the Model 1910 so that the bolt is not locked for firing. This is the nicest Ross sporting rifle we have had in several years and it's in a caliber noted for its accuracy.
