British Marked Ross M-10 Mk. III B Rifle
Description: Serial #373, .303 British, 30 1/2” barrel with a good-very good bore that has dark freckling within the grooves. This rifle has the British-modified chamber (for use with irregular shaped wartime cartridges) and has the armory applied “LC” marking on the breech end of the barrel along with British military proofs. The metal retains about 80-85% of an armory re-applied blue with the balance turned to an overall dark plum-brown patina that has silvered slightly at the muzzle and on the other high edges and projections. The rifle is equipped with the correct War Office rear sight and 1913 Pattern front sight protectors. The walnut stock and handguard have been arsenal refinished to very good condition with some repaired with-the-grain cracks on the handguard and numerous small blemishes scattered about the additional dark oil finish. There are no visible unit stamps in the wood, but there is a small brass collection catalog plate at the toe of the butt. This is a good-very good example of a hard to find, British-used military Ross and would make a terrific example for a collection. {Ref. “The Ross Rifle Story” by Phillips, Dupuis, and Chadwick; 1984} FFL or C&R SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Manufacturer: Ross Model: 10 Serial Number: 373 Caliber Info: .303 Gauge Info: .303 |
