US Marked CANADIAN Mark II ROSS Model 1905 Straight Pull C&R MILITARY Rifle .303 Caliber ROSS MARK II Rifle Used in WWI & WWII
Description: US Marked CANADIAN Mark II ROSS Model 1905 Straight Pull C&R MILITARY Rifle .303 Caliber ROSS MARK II Rifle Used in WWI & WWII Here we present a C&R U.S. Marked Canadian Mark II Ross Model 1905 Straight Pull Infantry Rifle, made circa 1910 in Quebec, Canada with a production run between 1903 and 1918. In all, approximately 420,000 Ross service rifles were produced, 342,040 of which were purchased by the British. During the Second Boer War (1899-1902), a minor diplomatic fight broke out between Canada and the United Kingdom, after the U.K. refused to license the Lee–Enfield SMLE design for production in Canada. Sir Charles Ross offered to finance the construction of a factory in Canada to produce his newly designed straight-pull rifle for Canadian service. This offer was accepted by the government of Sir Wilfrid Laurier and Ross was awarded his first contract in 1903 for 12,000 Mark I Ross rifles. After various complaints had been received on the Mark I, the rifle was re-designed to address these issues. After these issues were addressed, these rifles were re-designated as the Ross Mark II Rifle. The overall condition is good. Strong action. The bore is semi-bright and nicely rifled. Legible markings. The example sports a solid stock and is dated “1910”. Both U.S, and Canadian markings can be seen on the right buttstock and behind the trigger guard. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 28 inches. Caliber: .303 British Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.
