The name Mini-14 comes from the fact that this rifle is a smaller version of the military M-14. Mini-14 rifles share many of the characteristics of the M-14, along with some similarities to the M-1 Garand, which is true of the M-14 as well. You’ll find Mini-14 rifles in use with various militaries, law enforcement agencies and corrections departments, along with all of the civilian users.
The rifle that we have on consignment is serial number 186-22923. It was produced by Ruger in 1993 as Ruger SKU 1805. To say that this rifle has aged gracefully would be an understatement. It’s in fantastic condition.
Chambered for .223 Remington, the rifle has a 16 inch barrel. The rear sight is an aperture style while the front sight is a fixed ramp. At some point, someone applied a white coloring to the front ramp to help with sight contrast. If you like it, it looks fine. If you don’t like it, it appears to be easily cleaned up. An M-1 / M-14 style safety sits in the front side of the trigger guard.
The stainless metal finish on the black synthetic stock is a really sharp look. We would rate the metal finish as Near Mint and the stock as Excellent or better. The recoil pad is in Excellent condition also. The rifle has a very clean bore, a bright barrel and the rifling looks good also.
The rifle likely hasn’t seen a lot of use but it’s also been very well maintained. If you take a good look at the photos, you’ll see what we mean.
