The Mini Thirty is chambered in 7.62x39mm, the same caliber as the AK-47. It’s an excellent deer hunting rifle, especially for hunters who prefer a smaller caliber but want to stay above regulations mandating deer be hunted with calibers of at least 6mm. These rifles are excellent for hunting deer at short to medium distances.  Compact Power.  The Ruger Mini Thirty Semi-Automatic Rifle brings the power of the 7.62x39mm caliber into a compact package, with barrels typically in the 16-18” range.
