1980 Ruger No.1 Tropical in .458 Winchester Magnum
** Beautiful Vintage Dangerous Game Ruger!**
Description:
The Ruger No.1 rifle in all of it's variations is truly an American classic. A simple but elegant design, the Ruger No.1 was introduced in 1967 and quickly earned a reputation for being very accurate, reliable, and extremely well-made. This particular No.1 is a "Tropical" model, chambered in .458 Winchester Magnum. The Tropical models featured chamberings in large dangerous game calibers with heavy-profiled barrels, a barrel-band front sling mount, and factory iron sights. This example is serial number 132-02769 and was made in 1980. It has obviously lived a very easy life these last 38 plus years and appears to be unfired. The original factory gloss-blue finish rates 99% with no wear, dings, dents, scratches, or imperfections visible. The bore is mirror-bright and mint. The rifling still looks brand new with razor sharp edges on the rifling lands and grooves, and no visible wear, erosion, pitting, or imperfections of any kind. The factory original checkered Walnut stock set is in excellent shape overall. It is free from any cracks or repairs and only shows a few small handling and storage dings/scrapes. The worst of these marks on the stock set is on the right side of the buttstock in the center. There is a scrape that has been touched up with scratch cover. As you can see from the pictures, it does not detract much from the clean and very attractive look of this Ruger. The original factory checkering on the pistol grip and forearm are still crisp and clean. The factory blued steel pistol grip cap with the Ruger crest is in excellent shape, and like the factory recoil pad, is expertly fit to the stock and tight to the wood. All of the controls and the action of this No.1 Tropical works 100% like the day it left the factory. The action is smooth, precise, and rock-solid in battery. The factory adjustable trigger is quite good at it's present factory setting, breaking with a light pull and no grittiness or slop. The .458 Win Mag chambering is a true dangerous game cartridge with massive stopping power and energy. You could take this Ruger to any part of the world and take anything you want to with this rifle. If you have been looking for a classy big-bore rifle for your collection this 1980 Ruger No.1 Tropical would be an excellent choice. They really do not make them like this anymore...
