Ruger® designed the M77® Hawkeye® Varmint Target Bolt-Action Rifle with long-range shooting in mind. The Varmint Target comes with a durable laminate stock, with a wide fore end to enhance stability when shooting from rest. The heavy-contour, cold hammer-forged barrel further enhances stability and a target crown and ultra-precise rifling produces exceptional accuracy. A unique, 2-stage, adjustable target trigger permits you to achieve the rifle's full accuracy potential, with a short take-up stage, followed by a crisp, light target pull with no creep or overtravel. Barrel, receiver, and floorplate are constructed of stainless steel with a matte finish. Integral scope mounts are machined directly to the receiver to accept Ruger scope rings (included), eliminating any chance of screwed-on bases coming loose in the field. At the core of the M77 Hawkeye Varmint Target Bolt-Action Rifle is a reliable action based on the rugged Mauser 98, utilizing a controlled feed mechanism with a large claw extractor, a fixed blade ejector, and a 1-piece stainless steel bolt. A 3-position safety allows the shooter to load or unload the rifle with the safety engaged in the middle position and locks the bolt in the rearward position.
