The Ruger American is designed to be one of the most affordable rifles on the market, yet provides accuracy, ergonomics, and a level of reliability that rivals the more expensive rifles, such as the Remington 700. Shown here is a brand new in the box example of SKU # 16933. It has a 22-inch cold-hammer forged barrel with a recessed crown. While the rifle is new, it should be noted there is small spot on the barrel where the matte black finish did not take as well as the rest of the barrel’s surface, the finish appearing to be a little “thin” in that spot. Otherwise, the level of finish is as it should be for a new rifle. Photographing it is a little difficult due to the lights as the light reflects off the barrel just above the spot itself. Please see pictures 6 and 13. The synthetic stock offers great resistance to the elements and features Ruger’s patented Power Bedding®, an integral bedding block system which free floats the barrel for improved accuracy. The one-piece bolt offers three lugs for increased shooter safety and a 70 deg throw providing ample clearance for almost any scope. The receiver is fitted at the factory with a one-piece picatinny rail for mounting said scope.
