Similar to Patriot Ordnance Factory’s (POF) Revolution rifle, the SFAR is a true small-frame AR10 nearly identical in size to the traditional semi-automatic sporting rifle chambered for the 5.56. Every aspect of this rifle’s design is intended to promote longevity and reliability, as well as being user-friendly. The 4140 chrome-moly steel barrel uses precise 5R rifling to ensure a high-level of accuracy with the .308, as well as the similar 7.62 NATO cartridge. The bolt and barrel extensions are CNC-machined using high-strength alloy steel of greater performance than the more usual C158 bolt. The bolt carrier group is made of chrome-lined 8620 steel and has the nitride-processed gas key staked in place. The firing pin is made of titanium and has a DLC coating to increase service life. The bolt’s design includes dual ejectors and an extractor optimized to ensure proper extraction and ejection of spent casings. The ejection is enlarged compared to the standard 5.56 rifle to aid in this effort as well. The gas system is rifle-length and utilizes a neat 4-position rotary-regulator gas block (0.750”) for accommodating the full gamut of .308 ammunition available on the market today. The 15-inch-long hand guard is M-Lok compatible and has slots in the 3 o’clock, 6 o’clock, and 9 o’clock positions. The top features a full-length picatinny rail. A socket is present on the left and right side of the handguard at the muzzle end for use with Quick Disconnect (QD) sling swivels. Both the upper and lower are made of forged 7075-T6 aluminum. Similar to Patriot Ordnance Factory’s (POF) Revolution rifle, the SFAR is a true small-frame AR10 nearly identical in size to the traditional semi-automatic sporting rifle chambered for the 5.56. Every aspect of this rifle’s design is intended to promote longevity and reliability, as well as being user-friendly. The 4140 chrome-moly steel barrel uses precise 5R rifling to ensure a high-level of accuracy with the .308, as well as the similar 7.62 NATO cartridge. The bolt and barrel extensions are CNC-machined using high-strength alloy steel of greater performance than the more usual C158 bolt. The bolt carrier group is made of chrome-lined 8620 steel and has the nitride-processed gas key staked in place. The firing pin is made of titanium and has a DLC coating to increase service life. The bolt’s design includes dual ejectors and an extractor optimized to ensure proper extraction and ejection of spent casings. The ejection is enlarged compared to the standard 5.56 rifle to aid in this effort as well. The gas system is rifle-length and utilizes a neat 4-position rotary-regulator gas block (0.750”) for accommodating the full gamut of .308 ammunition available on the market today. The 15-inch-long hand guard is M-Lok compatible and has slots in the 3 o’clock, 6 o’clock, and 9 o’clock positions. The top features a full-length picatinny rail. A socket is present on the left and right side of the handguard at the muzzle end for use with Quick Disconnect (QD) sling swivels. Both the upper and lower are made of forged 7075-T6 aluminum. Venting holes in the upper, barrel extension, and bolt carrier ensure that excess gases are safely directed away from the shooter. The lower has a wide flare on the mag well for easier insertion of a fresh magazine. The SFAR is equipped with Ruger’s excellent Elite 452 two-stage trigger with a pull weight of roughly 4.5 lbs. The SFAR is designed to except mil-spec MSR trigger groups, receiver end plates, charging handles, pistol grips, and adjustable stocks allowing for a very wide range aftermarket parts to be installed. The pistol grip and adjustable stock are Magpul’s MOE grip and MOE SL respectively. The SFAR comes with one 20-round Magpul PMAG magazine and is compatible with AR10/SR25-pattern metal magazines as well. To top it off, the 20” barrel is fitted with Ruger’s 2-port Boomer muzzle brake. The muzzle uses the standard 5/8”-24 thread twist found on 30-caliber barrels. This rifle is new in the box.
