Description: German 98K bolt action rifle chambered in 8mm Mauser. This example was made by J.P. Sauer in 1938 and marked "147" Code. The top of the receiver is marked "147"and "1938". The left side of the receiver is marked with an imperial eagle and serial number "5328", "n" and "Mod. 98". The left side of the barrel shank is marked with an imperial eagle and the serial number "8568", "n". The right side of the receiver is marked with a Nazi "eagle / swastika / 359" stamp and two imperial eagles / 214" stamps. The bottom side of the sight adjuster is marked "eagle 359" and "328". The rear sight flat spring is marked "eagle / 359" and the sight base is marked "eagle 359" and "5328"". The bottom metal is marked with two "eagle / 214" stamps and the serial number "5328". The front bottom metal screw is marked with an "eagle / ?" stamp and with the last two digits of the serial number "28". The rear screw is marked twice with a Nazi "eagle / swastika. The top of the bolt handle s marked "5328", "n". The top of safety lever is marked "262" with three "eagle / swastika's. The top rear of the bolt body is marked "262" and the right side has two "eagle / 655". The rear of the firing pin housing is marked "eagle / 655" and "262". The top of the bolt release lever marked "eagle / 214 and 262. The face of the nose cap is marked "eagle / 655" and the front barrel band is marked on the left side "262" and the right is "eagle / WaA655. The rear barrel band is marked on the left side "eagle / 655". The extractor is marked "eagle 214" and the top of the magazine follower is marked with "eagle / swastika" and number "1 / 58". The top of the front sight is marked with the last two digits of the serial number "28" and the face of the sight is marked with an "eagle / 214" stamp. The buttplate is marked "bpr" with an "eagle / WaA?. The bolt takedown washers have no visible markings. The right side of the buttstock behind the disks is unreadable but the last marking "eagle / swastika / WaA655". The front sight is a drift adjustable blade on a raised base. The rear sight is a "V" notched attached to a sliding sight elevator marked from "1-20". The stock has a pistol grip, notched for the bolt handle, sling well, sling pass through, through bolt, domed washer, metal nose cap, metal barrel band with sling loop and a cupped metal buttplate.The gun shows no visible import marks and the stock has not been "Duffle Cut". 8mm Mauser Curio/Relic: Yes Chambers: Bolt action. Metal Condition: The rifle retains 65%-70% original finish with a blend of patina and light surface erosion on the bottom metal and butt plate. Wood Condition: The stock set is in very good condition showing minor marks scattered on the surface. The shellac coating on the stock is on some of the stocks metal surfaces. Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright. The rifling is deep. There is light erosion at the muzzle. Barrels: 23.75" barrel. Triggers: Single trigger. Stock Dimensions: LOP 13".
