SCARCE 1870’s J.P. Sauer Cape Combo Gun 16 Ga x .577 Snider with Guss-Stahl Cast Steel Barrels Excellent Bores NO FFL
Description: Another “ESTATE” firearm listing brought to you from Dust 2 Dollars who prides themselves on showing the complete gun in high quality pictures along with a detailed description for your consideration. We offer you a “SCARCE” J.P. Sauer (Germany) Cape Combo Gun 16 gauge by .577 Snider from the 1870’s with Guss-Stahl “Cast Steel” barrels. The serial number on the gun is 16196 which dates around 1875. The serial number is matching on the barrels, receiver and butt stock and butt plate. Other parts may be serial numbered but we didn’t take it down any farther than shown. The 26 ¾” barrels have excellent bores with no pitting and are both bright with no issues. They have been refinished at some point and show surface marks, small dings but no rust or pitting. The front sight has hash marks for windage adjustments. The forearm has a chip that is clearly shown in the pictures. But overall is in very fine condition. The butt stock is original and shows some age cracks from drying out the last 140 “plus” years. The receiver shows very fine case colors which is surprising after this many years. The gun is tight and hand functions just fine. The top of the barrel is marked "J. P. SAUER & SOHN. SUHL" / “Guss/Stahl” as shown. Cast steel barrels on this early of a J.P. Sauer are quite scarce. In addition finding this early a J.P. Sauer Cape Gun is also a rare find. As far as the rifle barrel caliber, the measurements “approximately” came out to; rim .750” / base .660” / overall case length 2.00” / grooves .610” / lands .607”. The only cartridge of that time frame I know of that would work was the .577 Snyder. If you have any other ideas, please share them with us. SOLD! This will be shipped fully insured UPS Ground to you where allowed with signature required for $75. The rifle will ship in a double wall cardboard box that we have manufactured for us so that your gun arrives safe. Payment to be made by USPS Money Order or Cashier’s Check. All firearms come with a 3-day inspection from D2D’s. SOLD Antique: Yes Rifle Caliber: .577 Snider Shotgun Gauge: 16 Gauge |
