WORLD WAR II German J.P. SAUER & SOHN “ce/42” Code/Date Model K98 Rifle C&R DESIREABLE “Script ce” CODE Third Reich Rifle
Description: WORLD WAR II German J.P. SAUER & SOHN “ce/42” Code/Date Model K98 Rifle C&R DESIREABLE “Script ce” CODE Third Reich Rifle Here we present a very desirable C&R German J. P. Sauer & Sohn “ce” Code “42” Date K98 Mauser Rifle manufactured in 1942 in Suhl, Germany. In 1898 the German Army purchased a Mauser design, the Model 98, which incorporated improvements introduced in earlier models. The weapon was originally chambered for the Patrone 88 and officially entered German service as the Gew. 98 on April 5, 1898. This remains by far the most successful of the Mauser designs, helped by the onset of two world wars that demanded vast numbers of rifles. It was the year prior to the production of this rifle in 1941 that the Sauer production code changed from “147” to a script “ce”. Cupped buttplates were introduced to help prevent the de-lamination of rifle buttstocks. Sauer began to use “bys” and “dfb” barrels and magazine followers which have a waffenamt “214”. Waffenamt numbers “37” and “359” continued to be used on most parts. All metal parts continued to be milled and numbered to match the rifle. This example is “EAGLE/359” and “EAGLE/37” proofed and includes a bayonet, scabbard, and leather sling. The overall condition is good. Strong action. Semi-bright bore remains clean with decent but worn rifling. Solid stock with an average amount of wear. Legible markings. Mixed numbers (receiver and stock match). The period leather sling is in good shape. “42” dated receiver. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 24 inches. Caliber: 7.92x57mm Mauser (8mm Mauser) Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1745 #217543 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
