The quinesential NE Deer Hunters rifle in the right cal. This beauty was made just up the road from us in Chicopee  Mass and has all of the classic features except the lever safety ...but has the more usefull and intuiitve tang safety, while maintaining the brass rotor, cardtridge counter, damacented engine turned bolt and was factory drilled and tapped for scope. Factory stock has not been shortend...(LOP until 1958 was 13") but a pad has been added (old) . Handsome strait grained factory American Walnut Stock set fully factory hand checkered.stock set and does not have the often found split..no repairs either .The Herters patent device is intened to cut down on muzzle blast ..held in place by a set screw and should come right off but its kind of cool we think.
