SAVAGE MODEL 99 EXCELLENT CONDITION 308 WINCHESTER

Description:
The item for sale is a Savage 99 chambered for the 308 Winchester. This is the Savage Model 99R. The serial number is 905683 which indicates a manufacturing date of 1956. This would be the first year for the 308 Winchester cartridge. This is a beautiful Model 99 and certainly collector quality. The barrel retains 98% blue with the receiver showing 95% blue with minor edge wear. The forearm and stock are excellent with cut checkering, no cracks, sharp checkering and virtually no evidence of handling. The wood has the correct hand rubbed oil finish. The receiver is tapped for a scope. The original butt plate is excellent and has very little blue loss. Nice case colors remain on the lever. The rifle also features sling eyes, serrated trigger, safety on the lever, rotary magazine and an excellent bore. The action is mechanically excellent on this Savage 99R.
