GREAT DEPRESSION ERA SAVAGE MOD. 99, DESIRABLE .30-30 CALIBER WITH STRAIGHT STOCK, CRESCENT BUTT MADE 1930
Description: GREAT DEPRESSION ERA SAVAGE MODEL 99 IN DESIRABLE .30-30 CALIBER WITH STRAIGHT STOCK, CRESCENT BUTT PLATE AND CORRECT 24" BARREL, #325XXX, MADE 1930. An attractive example that still retains about all the blue on the receiver that is a little dulled from age, but all there. Also shows some light case color on the lever. Fine barrel blue, that also shows a little age with exc. markings, buckhorn rear sight with correct blade/bead front sight in ramp. Fine forend and butt stock with one very small chip and short hairline crack at the upper tang- typical as the stock is secured to the receiver with a long cross bolt under the butt plate that is tightened at the factory. Normal temperature and humidity changes cause the wood to swell/shrink and eventually these chips and cracks form on almost all M-99s. No extra holes, tight action and bright excellent bore. Some stock finish was added as a preservative at some time without sanding or refinishing etc. which comes off very easily with #0000 steel wool. Has the brass rotor magazine with little window on the left side of the receiver with brass cartridge counter. This one must have been in storage for a long time as it still shows dried grease on the top of the butt plate etc. Good, solid example from a hard time in U.S. history. SOLD Rifle Caliber: .30-30 Winchester Manufacturer: SAVAGE Model: MOD. 99 Serial Number: 325XXX Barrel Length: 24 Condition: FINE+ Bore Condition: EXCELLENT |
