This 70 year old Savage 99F (featherweight) is a beauty. Not perfect but welll cared for and carefully handled such that the there are no meaningful marks or scratches, dents or other. Some of the original finish is worn on the butt stock, thiis could easily be touched up. 
The blue on the left side of the receiver has been touched up with cold blue but looks good.
Does NOT have the so often found split behind the upper tang and is fully entact and the factory hand checkering on both fhe forend and butt stock show no evidence of wear.. Front and rear site still in place. Lever esp inside where not exposed to light still exhibits some remaining case colors.
It weights a hair over 6 1/2 lbs ...slender in the wrist and forend make it a joy to carry. As a 1956 gun it retains all the classic features: lever safety, cocking indicator, brass rotary magazine and is factory drilled and tapped for scope.
Younger shooters will likley not know this but the balistics are very nearly the same as .308 Win with lower chamber pressures and the .3008 was designed by Savage to be offered to the Military having balistics not wildly differnet than 30 06 Govt.
Bore is very good
