When i was a boy growing up in the North East, 94 Winchesters were common and carried by most hunters, when you ran into a man who carried a 99 Savage the notion was here is a real woodsman. We love these fine guns that were well ahead of their time and incorporated features that were then and reamain uncommon: cocking indicators and cartridge round count (a little brass window on the left side of the receiver woudl tell you how many rounds remained in the clever roatery brass magazine, Features include handsome factory hand checkered American Walnut Stock, case colored lever (mostly faded when exposed to air and the elements), steeel butt plate, which in earlier versions had a distinctive image of an American Indian Chief at the toe and engine turned (damacented) bolt. This gun is in well cared for excellent conditon, all blue on barrel is near perfect with some loss of blue from carry underside and sides of receiver with some very light water marks and evidenc of previous attempt to clean on left side however overall condition is rated at 88% at a minium.
Often with 99's there is a spilt on the upper tange back of the receiver however this one has not splt and not been fixed or fiddled with in any way.
Most modern younger shooters do not realize that this classic rifle / cal combination was one of the lst levers factory drilled and tapped for scope and when chambered in 300 Savage (only a little less powerful than 308 win) was capable for game up to moose.
We have its twin in 308 (see sellers other items) and buy this great pair for your collection or to hunt with.

When i was a boy growing up in the North East, 94 Winchesters were common and carried by most hunters, when you ran into a man who carried a 99 Savage the notion was here is a real woodsman. We love these fine guns that were well ahead of their time and incorporated features that were then and reamain uncommon: cocking indicators and cartridge round count (a little brass window on the left side of the receiver woudl tell you how many rounds remained in the clever roatery brass magazine, Features include handsome factory hand checkered American Walnut Stock, case colored lever (mostly faded when exposed to air and the elements), steeel butt plate, which in earlier versions had a distinctive image of an American Indian Chief at the toe and engine turned (damacented) bolt. This gun is in well cared for excellent conditon, all blue on barrel is near perfect with some loss of blue from carry underside and sides of receiver with some very light water marks and evidenc of previous attempt to clean on left side however overall condition is rated at 88% at a minium.
Often with 99's there is a spilt on the upper tange back of the receiver however this one has not splt and not been fixed or fiddled with in any way.
Most modern younger shooters do not realize that this classic rifle / cal combination was one of the lst levers factory drilled and tapped for scope and when chambered in 300 Savage (only a little less powerful than 308 win) was capable for game up to moose.
