Savage 99 Saddle Ring Carbine in 32-40
Description: Sold to ML in the great state of PA // Savage 99 Saddle Ring Carbine in 32-40, Bore is shiney and has lots of rifling.Period sling swivels were added a long time ago. Barrel is 18 1/2 inches from the muzzle to the front of the receiver. Barrel crown is orignal and appears as un-damaged. SN is 52.605, and all the internal parts that have SNs do match. Front sight is a lyman sight, and I have no idea of when it was installed. The butt stock has sharp factory orignal checkering that is clean and in good shape. A crack has recently developed in the top of the grip area behind the receiver; Its a hairline split and no wood is missing. A competent and qualified gunsmith can easily fix this. Its my understanding that Savage 1899 SRCs are actually kinda scarce, and even more so in this caliber. I cannot explain the extra hole in the receiver on the left hand side except to guess that maybe some type of scope mount was installed at one point. The other mounting point would have been the screw for the rotary magazine. The current owner has a new replacement spring for the rotary magazine. He also has provided a new replacement screw for that rotary magazine as well. He explained that the screw maintains the tension on the rotary magazine round counter, and keeps its properly indexed. Photos are accurate. if you have questions let me know and I will try and answer. Payment by cards add the 3% convenience fee, and this must ship to an FFL. Strength and Honor! SOLD |
