Description:
The Savage model 95 and subsequent model 99 were the first hammerless lever action rifles and the addition of the rotary magazine allowed them to use the new spitzer design bullets.
This example is an early takedown model and appears to have been part the way through stock restoration. As such the contours of the stock are somewhat rounded and it appears that white line spacers have been added where there had been none before. Metal condition is good to very good, but it would appear that the takedown button has been lost and a paper clip is being used to temporarily actuate the detent for the forend. Barrel condition is good, with strong rifling.
It must be noted also that the stock has a small crack forming behind the upper tang.
