With removable clip (magazine) this represented the first major change in the venerable Savage 99 in almost 70 yrs of production. Prior to this all 99's employed the clever and innovative rotary mag however the C (removable mag) was a move more designed for modern hunters who might be in and out of a truck with breaks for lunch and or going back to camp. The clip type mag made it unneecessary to eject a full magazine but simply remove the mag and eject the chambered round, Employing some of the best of the old and new, this retained the handsome  alum butt plate and quality American Walnut Stock Set and has the easier to use tang safety but retained the unique cocking indicator, sort of the best of all worlds.
Deep case colors remain on lever
Chambered in the most sought after .308. 
Aside from some light specs on the left side of the receiver this fine example (we are calliing in 89%) retains allmost all blue and stock finish and does not seem to have been used or carried much.
Does not have the stock split behind the upper tang so common in many 99's, no reparis and no touch ups.
Comes with a Redfield/Leupold type one piece scope base and rings. We have many fine used scopes at bargain prices; some period correct and some more modern (Inquire)
We don't wish summers away but deer season is around the corner, don't miss this woods classic
