This is a Savage 99 (possibly 99R) chambered in .300 Savage with a 24\" barrel manufactured in 1954. Its in decent shooting condition with a decent bore with no pitting. The receiver is in good shape but has some rust pitting in select areas and little of the original bluing. (see photos) Barrel is in good shape, little to no pitting and a little more bluing. Barrel is also coming equipped with adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight and brass ramped front sight. The wood is in fair shape, and the action is smooth and in working order, equipped with the older style lever lock safety.
This also very well may be model 99R with a replaced foregrip, this receiver comes seemingly factory drilled and tapped also featuring a \"R\" marking bellow model number (see photos). The barrel is also within spec for the slightly thicker barrel that comes on the 99R (0.6\" muzzle diameter, 1.1\" receiver diameter)
